DESCRIPTION: The Coalition to Increase Teachers of Color and American Indian Teachers in Minnesota will offer up to 26 “scholarship awards” to youth who create the most engaging and influential efforts encouraging civic participation on social media and beyond needed to pass 2022 Increase Teachers of Color Act (ITCA). Contest winners will be announced by mid-May.
Using data, winning influencers will show with data how they raised awareness about the Increase Teachers of Color Act and motivated their peers to act as described in the contest guidelines. This is not a competition about who is personally most popular on social media; it is a collective, grassroots effort mobilizing the voice and power of youth around a shared purpose because ALL students deserve and benefit from more teachers of color!
